Augusta National Golf Club.... still clueless

That the Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club, which still(!) refuses to allow women members, and which still basks in its obnoxious old boys club exclusivity, would "rebuke" Tiger Woods, and more specifically, say Tiger "disappointed all of us, and more importantly, our kids and our grandkids," is pretty absurd.

Cause the bitter maintenance of antiquated exclusionary policies that were always unjust in the first place is certainly the sort of value that I want my children's role models to be espousing.

If Tiger Woods were to say "I never said I was a role model," I'd say sure, but you certainly hawked yourself like you were one, cashed in on being one, and in the end highlighted some degrading and selfish priorities. but he didn't say that; he denied, he obfuscated, and then he took some responsibility (although the speed with which he's back suggests that he didn't really see this as anything more than a career hiccup).

But for the president of a sexist and discriminatory oasis for the coddled, insulated, and pampered elite to suggest that Tiger Woods should have been a better role model is laughable. I'd rather my children screwed up in their private lives than became the public spokesperson for sexism, exclusion, and elitism. But I'd rather both Woods and Payne stopped being dicks, Woods in his private life and Payne in his public role.
